Lose weight by finding Your Essential Self (YES)! YES is a 12 week yoga workshop for mind and body transformation. It is the answer to creator, Allyn Cioban’s life long struggle with her body. Allyn began obsessing about her body and weight as a young gymnast. The constant pressure to ‘lose another pound’ created a lifetime of perfectionism, physical dissatisfaction and self-judgment — which led her to the psychological disorders of anorexia, bulimia and then compulsive overeating and excessive exercising. Allyn researched everything she could about the mind-body connection and then tested a multitude of theories and practices on herself — and was ecstatic with the outcome! She had finally figured out how NOT to obsess about food, dieting or exercise – and had actually discovered the key to having the body she desired.

Yoga played a large role in her healing, and now Allyn compassionately shares with others the methods for health, wellness and self appreciation that changed her life.The YES curriculum is a completely different approach to weight management, where making healthy choices feels easy and inspired from within. It combines many modalities, lots of yoga, breath and movement, and so much more! It’s not a fad diet, not a rigid fitness plan, and it’s different for every body!

Allyn Cioban has spent more than 35 years as a dedicated practitioner of body kinetics and the movement arts, fifteen of those years as a fitness instructor. She is currently finishing her 500 hour Yoga Alliance certification in Vinyasa Yoga with renowned “teacher’s teacher”, Annie Carpenter. She loves teaching yoga as much as she loves practicing it (which is A LOT!) and this comes across to her students as grounding, nurturing energy combined with precision, challenge and possibility!

Allyn Cioban has been passionate about health and fitness for as long as she can remember. She was a competitive gymnast and diver before she began her sixteen-year-long career as a fitness and group exercise instructor. Allyn took her first yoga classes in her late twenties from Shiva Rae and Seane Corn at Yoga Works, and immediately she felt a connection to the practice. She then began producing commercials and her yoga practice fell to the wayside. In 2001, September 11th shook Allyn to the core, and she immediately shifted her focus in life. She used her producing skills to raise funds for a nonprofit organization, Cancer Support Community. It is there that she was reminded about the mind body connection and of her passion for health and wellbeing. Allyn found her yoga practice again in 2005 when she began taking classes with Bryan Kest, Jerome Mercier and Rudy Mettia at Power Yoga, where you will often see her today! She completed her 200-hour Teacher Training with Tamal Dodge at The Yoga Collective, and is a registered vinyasa flow yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. 

Allyn has always been an avid believer in the power of positive affirmations and enjoyed repeating them to herself during her yoga practice. Inspired to share that powerful combination with her students, Allyn created Affirmation Flow™ yoga which has helped her overcome depression and hopelessness after 9/11; helped quiet her mind of habitual negative thoughts she had much of her life; helped improve her self esteem and body image; allowed her the awareness to deliberately choose empowering thoughts; helped her create a meaningful, personal spiritual practice; produced a sense of balance and wellbeing in her life; and strengthened and toned her body. Affirmation Flow™ integrates power/vinyasa flow yoga (breath linked to movement) with the application of precise alignment, visualizations, meditations, intentions and positive affirmations to create a meditative and healing flow. It is challenging enough for experienced practitioners, yet simple enough and totally approachable for newer yogis.
